Location: Remote covering South Downs & West Sussex (requires travel)

Collectively, HSB is the UK and Ireland’s only group of companies solely focused on providing specialist engineering and technology insurance solutions, alongside risk-focused inspection services and assessments.
This role falls under MD Insurance Services.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Risk Management Surveyor, you will carry out site inspections and provide technical advice to support safe, compliant construction on projects registered under MDIS Warranty schemes.
This is a field-based role where you will inspect new-build and newly converted buildings, ensuring work aligns with the Technical Manual and Building Regulations. You will plan and manage your own workload, record inspection findings, and communicate outcomes clearly to customers and colleagues.
You’ll play a key role in identifying defects, maintaining standards, and supporting developers and builders with practical, solution-focused guidance, helping ensure projects meet required compliance and quality expectations.

What You Bring
Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear, practical technical advice A detail-focused, professional approach with a commitment to high standards Ability to build strong relationships and deliver excellent customer service A proactive mindset with strong organisation and time management skills Confidence working independently across multiple sites
What You’ll Need
3+ years’ experience in construction, surveying, inspection or a similar technical role Chartered (Member level) or Class 2b Competent under the Building Inspector Competency Framework Good understanding of Building Regulations, site inspections and defect identification Experience working with developers, builders or construction stakeholders Comfortable using MS Office and mobile devices Full UK driving licence Ability to travel across multiple sites (reasonable adjustments welcomed)
