Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across sectors including built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health, and care.
APD provides tailored solutions to address client challenges, combining:

Deliverables range from £20bn+ projects, incorporating:
- Programme & project management
- Project controls (scheduling, cost management, estimating)
- Infrastructure finance & management consulting

- Specialist advisory services (risk, climate, safety, land, planning, quality, risk management)
Join our award-winning Risk team as we grow. We seek dedicated risk management professionals to shape and safeguard complex Construction and Infrastructure projects across sectors like Transport, Defence, Water, Buildings, and Energy.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct assurance reviews of risk deliverables and methodologies against best practice.
- Assist in Business Case & Investment Decision development/approval, ensuring risk evidence quality.
- Act as a consultant in client environments, embedding expertise within their teams.
- Coach, mentor, and supervise project staff to develop risk expertise.
- Build strong relationships with clients, teams, and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate proven stakeholder management.

Candidate Specification
Essential
Do you have competency in implementing Risk Management processes aligned to ISO 31000/ Institute of Risk Management / APM methodologies for complex Construction & Infrastructure projects, including:
- Developing, implementing, and functioning risk management processes?
- Facilitating risk workshops as part of the risk process?
- Conducting regular project risk reviews to maintain a current and accurate project risk register?
- Providing Quantitative Cost & Schedule Risk Analysis?
- Producing risk management reports to inform decision-making?
- Familiarity with industry risk management tools, including:
- ARM
- Xactium
- Primavera Risk Analysis
- SafranRisk
- @Risk
- Risk Predict!
- Understanding how risk management intersects with Project Management & Controls (cost estimating, planning, contract administration)?
- Implementing risk reduction strategies to alleviate project exposure?
- Supporting clients in developing risk management approaches, embedding best practice?
- Leading interdepartmental risk workshops to ensure effective implementation?
- Collaborating with planners to identify schedule risks and link risks to timelines?
