Job Description: Risk Manager (Defence Project) – Assystem

Your Mission

Join our Defence project as a Risk Manager, providing key risk expertise to a Joint Project Team driving an infrastructure programme forward.

As a Risk Manager, you will:

  • Lead risk identification, analysis, and mitigation across the project lifecycle.
  • Report directly to the ** Programme Delivery Lead**.
  • Collaborate with clients, site teams, and industry partners to manage risks in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Requires strong project delivery and risk management skills, with experience in major infrastructure projects and stakeholder alignment.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the risk management process, including defining the roadmap and Target Operating Model (TOM).
  • Facilitate monthly risk reviews and workshops; manage risk registers and dashboards for real-time tracking. 📊
  • Support Quantitative Cost & Schedule Risk Analysis (QCRA/QSRA) and ensure quarterly reporting is comprehensive and compliant. 💸⏱️
  • Manage project assumptions and maintain the Master Data & Assumptions List (MDAL). 📚
  • Track mitigation plans to ensure risks are addressed and actions delivered on time. 🔍
  • Collaborate with project leads, suppliers, and external partners to mitigate overlap, align priorities, and enhance delivery.
  • Monitor supply chain performance, identifying emerging risks early to safeguard project execution. 🚀
  • Ensure compliance with client processes and infrastructure regulations. 🛠️

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

✔️ Security clearance (SC) held and available for site work (3–4 days/week). 🛡️ ✔️ Strong expertise in risk management processes and methodology. ✔️ Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and conceptualise high-level risk strategies. 🔎 ✔️ Proven experience in infrastructure risk analysis, with a focus on nebula risks and regulatory compliance. ✔️ Outstanding leadership, organisation, and stakeholder management skills. 🤝 ✔️ Proficient IT skills, including data-handling tools and project management software.

Desirable Skills

⭐ Industry knowledge (including competitors and adversaries) to provide strategic risk insights. ⭐ Strong executive communication skills for presenting concerns at a strategic level. 🎤 ⭐ Agile and adaptive mindset, responsive to dynamic changes in the project environment. 🔄 ⭐ Experience managing risks in live, ambiguous operational environments. ⭐ Ability to collaborate seamlessly across multi-agency teams to deliver cohesive solutions.
