Risk Manager

Risk Manager Frontier Resourcing is delighted to partner with a growing Consultancy that specialises in delivering highly complex and high-profile programmes across key UK sectors: Infrastructure, Rail, Civil Engineering, Nuclear and Defence.

With continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Risk Manager to join their team in Birmingham. This hybrid role (3 days on-site) invites you to leverage your expertise alongside leading Project Controls professionals, focusing on specialised risk management for major infrastructure and capital delivery initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Lead qualitative risk assessments to guide project teams, ensuring risk mitigation plans are practical, cost-effective and time-efficient.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed effective risk management across the full project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate risk identification workshops, capturing, assessing, and managing risks and opportunities.
  • Maintain, develop, and enhance project risk registers, defining risks with clarity around:
    • Causes
    • Events
    • Impacts
    • Ownership
    • Mitigation strategies
  • Produce compelling risk reporting, analysis, and insights to support monthly decision-making at the project and programme levels.
  • Monitor risk exposure, identify emerging risks, and communicate findings directly to key stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A strong foundation in project risk management methodologies, mitigation strategies, and enterprise risk management processes.
  • Technical skills in quantitative risk analysis tools for cost & schedule risk assessment, including:
    • @Risk
    • Primavera Risk Analysis
    • ARM or Safran Risk
  • Industry experience in Project Management, Project Controls, or Risk Management environments.
  • Ability to manage detailed risk registers and provide high-calibre risk analysis and reporting.
  • Exceptional stakeholder communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills

  • A professional risk or project management qualification, such as:
    • APM (Association for Project Management)
    • IRM (Institute of Risk Management)
  • Sector-specific experience in:
    • Nuclear
    • Rail
    • Infrastructure
    • Civil Engineering
    • Defence
  • Knowledge of Project Controls, including planning, scheduling, and cost management.
