Risk Manager

About us

Halfords is on a journey - building the future of motoring and cycling and looking for people who want to help shape what comes next. We’re a place for co‑creators: people who want to make a real impact, take ownership and be part of something that’s still evolving.

As the UK’s leading retailer of motoring and cycling products, we’re supported by one of the country’s largest independent vehicle servicing, maintenance and repair networks through Halfords Autocentres. This breadth gives us a strong, stable foundation - and the freedom to keep innovating and growing.

That means real variety for our colleagues, along with the opportunity to learn, stretch and develop as the business moves forward. Whatever your role, you’ll be part of a team focused on delivering exceptional service - using your expertise to solve problems, guide customers and help keep the nation moving with confidence.

About the role

Join Halfords in a high-impact role shaping our risk and governance strategy. As a listed PLC, we must comply with the UK Corporate Governance Code, and Provision 29 requires robust oversight of our risk management and internal controls. You’ll ensure our framework is strong, transparent, and fully aligned with regulatory expectations ahead of our FY27 year-end attestation.

Reporting to the Head of Risk and Control, with exposure to the plc board, audit, and executive committees, this role is central to embedding a risk-aware culture across the business. You’ll identify, assess, and mitigate risks affecting operations, reputation, financial performance, or compliance, collaborating across teams to keep Halfords resilient and ahead of the curve. This is your chance to make a visible impact on a major PLC and shape the future of risk management.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
