Job Overview: Risk Manager
As the Risk Manager, your primary role will be:
- Communicating risk processes, policies, and frameworks to stakeholders
- Developing and refining risk models to safeguard the organisation’s operations
- Collaborating across business units to identify, assess, and manage risks in a proactive manner
- Ensuring alignment with risk management best practices and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities
Risk Identification & Analysis
- Implementing, maintaining, and updating risk management processes across the organisation
- Evaluating business activities to identify and categorise risks
- Collecting and analysing data on internal and external factors affecting the business
- Compiling risk summaries in a risk register or equivalent, defining the organisation’s risk profile

Financial & Operational Risk Assessment
- Analysing the financial impact of potential risks
- Assessing the adequacy of insurance policies for existing risks
- Conducting risk assessments and evaluations with a strategic lens
Stakeholder & Employee Engagement
- Providing strategic risk management advice to leadership
- Ensuring stakeholders understand their accountability for risk control
- Educating employees on risk awareness and mitigation strategies
- Analysing external risks via stakeholder engagement and corporate governance frameworks
Incident & Crisis Management
- Reporting significant risks and incidents in line with incident management procedures
- Supporting the development of management plans and risk-related policies
Continuous Measurement & Improvement
- Conducting ongoing risk self-assessments
- Reviewing effectiveness of current protocols
- Scoping necessary improvements
- Implementing changes where required

Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Tertiary qualification in a business-related discipline (accounting, finance, operations, or related)
- 5+ years of experience in risk management, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong proficiency with risk management standards (e.g., ISO 31000):
- Understanding of risk quantification and analysis within a project/business context
- Knowledge of best practices in risk mitigation
- Analytical acumen to assess data trends, likelihood of outcomes, and impact
Desirable
- Postgraduate-level qualification in risk management, business, or a related field
- Experience implementing risk management frameworks in manufacturing/process-heavy industries
- Certified professional risk management credibility (e.g., CRO, FRM, or other accreditations)
Soft Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional communication and influence skills, with the ability to iterate policies effectively
- Highly organised and proactive, capable of working under pressure
- Strategic-thinker who can advise leadership on risk-driven decisions
- Excellent relationship management and engagement with cross-functional teams
