About the Role: Risk & MI Governance Manager
The Group Functions at L&G provide the critical back-end services crucial for business success across the organisation. We’re seeking a high-impact Risk & MI Governance Manager who will:
- Strengthen governance frameworks
- Enhance financial control systems
- Support evidence-based decision-making
This role directly aids in effective financial oversight, ensuring robust and consistent controls. You’ll collaborate closely with senior stakeholders, offering their challenges, insights, and guidance—focusing on delivering strong prudent financial stewardship and superior customer outcomes.
Responsibilities
Key Functions & Duties:
- Provide independent oversight and constructive challenge to ensure risks are effectively managed and governance standards are applied uniformly.
- Design and maintain financial control frameworks aligned with Group standards.
- Identify, monitor, and support the mitigation of key financial and enterprise risks.
- Produce high-quality, repeatable Management Information (MI) to guide leadership decisions and oversight.
- Manage and enhance Risk & Change Forums, ensuring risks, issues, and actions are tracked and escalated effectively.
- Partner with Finance and stakeholders across the Group to influence planning, resourcing, and risk management.
- Develop and improve technical accounting controls: promoting consistent knowledge and practices in Finance teams.
- Ensure governance and reporting align with regulatory expectations while delivering meaningful customer outcomes.

Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Deep understanding of financial controls, governance, and risk management within financial services.
- Solid knowledge of:
- Insurance accounting
- Actuarial processes
- Regulatory frameworks, including IFRS and Solvency II.
- Proven ability to design and embed governance structures and risk management processes.
- Experience producing high-quality MI and translating complex insights for senior stakeholders.
- Confidence in influencing and challenging senior executives in complex, high-stakes environments.
- Strong multitasking skills – able to manage risks, issues, and priorities efficiently.
- Experience overseeing financial reporting cycles controls and audit processes.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) and experience in stakeholder engagement.
