Risk & MI Governance Manager – Legal & General

About the Role
We are searching for a Risk & MI Governance Manager to play a pivotal role in enhancing governance standards, strengthening financial controls, and supporting fair, informed decision-making.
This high-impact role will involve collaborating with senior stakeholders to ensure a robust risk environment, effective governance, and high-quality management information (MI). You will influence how risk, governance, and financial control are integrated into our operational framework, driving strong financial stewardship and ensuring better customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing independent oversight and constructive challenge to ensure risks are managed effectively and governance standards are met consistently.
- Designing and maintaining a comprehensive financial control framework aligned with Group policies and standards.
- Identifying, monitoring, and mitigating key financial and enterprise risks through structured processes.
- Producing high-quality, consistent, and repeatable management information (MI) to support human resources and senior decision-making.
- Managing and enhancing Risk & Change Forums to ensure effective tracking, escalation, and resolution of risks, issues, and actions.
- Partnering with Finance and Group stakeholders to influence planning, prioritisation, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Supporting the development of financial accounting and control capabilities across Finance teams.
- Ensuring governance, controls, and reporting address regulatory expectations (e.g., IFRS, Solvency II) and deliver desirable customer outcomes.

Technical & Transferable Requirements
We seek an experienced professional with:
✔️ A strong understanding of financial controls, governance models, and risk management within financial services. ✔️ Deep knowledge of insurance accounting, actuarial processes, and regulatory compliance (e.g., IFRS, Solvency II). ✔️ Proven track record in designing and embedding governance structures, risk management frameworks, and control processes. ✔️ Ability to produce accurate, well-written MI and communicate insights clearly to senior leadership. ✔️ Confidence in influencing, challenging, and advising senior stakeholders in complex business environments. ✔️ Strong time and project management, capable of handling multiple risks, risks, issues, and priorities simultaneously. ✔️ Experience overseeing financial reporting cycles, audits, and internal controls, ensuring compliance and integrity. ✔️ Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, both in written reports and verbal consultations.
