About Pricing

The Home Risk Pricing Team is responsible for developing the most accurate and comprehensive view of customer risk. Our goal is to continuously improve this through:

  • Advanced statistics & machine learning
  • Rich datasets
  • A scalable, cloud-native infrastructure

About the Role & Team

We’re seeking bright, ambitious individuals eager to make a meaningful impact and accelerate their growth. You’ll be supported by experienced leaders deeply committed to your development and success.

This lean, hands-on team offers a unique opportunity to take on responsibility early, drive real change, and grow alongside the business.

Key Responsibilities

As Risk Pricing Manager, your core focus will be:

  • Model Development

    • Lead and mentor the Risk Modelling Team in designing, developing, and validating advanced risk models using:
      • Generalised Linear Models (GLMs)
      • Gradient Boosting Machines (GBMs)
    • Deploy models using Emblem and Python
    • Ensure models are robust, interpretable, and aligned with business objectives and regulatory standards
  • Model Monitoring

    • Establish and oversee a comprehensive model monitoring framework to:
      • Track performance
      • Identify underperforming models
      • Implement corrective actions to maintain accuracy and reliability

  • Research & Development

    • Drive innovation within Risk Pricing by:
      • Researching and integrating new data sources
      • Exploring emerging modelling methodologies
      • Applying cutting-edge analytical techniques to enhance competitiveness
  • Collaboration

    • Work cross-functionally with teams including:
      • Underwriting
      • Fraud & Risk
      • Reserving & Technology
      • Home Retail Pricing
    • Translate analytical insights into actionable business strategies
    • Ensure impactful, measurable outcomes
  • Stakeholder Communication

    • Communicate complex modelling insights to non-technical stakeholders (Retail, Finance, Underwriting)
    • Present findings clearly and persuasively
    • Ensure risk pricing strategies are understood, trusted, and leveraged

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience in UK General Insurance (Motor and/or Home), with a strong understanding of:
    • Pricing principles
    • Regulatory governance
  • Familiarity with pricing/modelling software, such as:
    • Emblem
    • Radar
    • Earnix
  • Hands-on experience with statistical modelling techniques, including:
    • GLMs (Generalised Linear Models)
    • GBMs (Gradient Boosting Machines)
    • Clustering analysis
  • Data proficiency:
    • Experience with SQL
    • Ability to handle large, complex datasets
  • Strong communication skills, including:
    • Translating technical insights for non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in:
    • Leading and developing analytical teams
    • Setting clear performance objectives
    • Fostering a collaborative and innovative culture
