About The Positions
RMIT University Urban Futures PhD Scholarship
The Urban Futures PhD Scholarship is offered by the Centre for Urban Research at RMIT University. The scholarship supports research in various urban studies topics under the guidance of Professor Jago Dodson, the Director of Urban Futures EIP. This is an opportunity for both domestic and international students to pursue a PhD focused on current urban challenges. The scholarship is awarded through RMIT’s competitive research scholarship rounds and is open to the most qualified applicants based on academic excellence and research potential.

- Stipend value: Living allowance of $35,886 per annum (2025 rate, indexed annually).

- Undertake an internship with an industry, government, or civil society partner.
- Have achieved a High Distinction (80% or higher) in the final two years of their qualifying program or demonstrate equivalent academic achievement through work experience, publications, or research experience.
- Be enrolled in a full-time PhD program at an RMIT Australian campus.
- For international applicants, meet English language requirements by the application closing date.
- Applicants who have already completed a graduate research degree at the same level (e.g., PhD applicants who already hold a PhD) are not eligible.

- Academic performance: High distinction or equivalent qualifications.
- Research potential: Publications, work experience, or contributions to the field.
- Relevance: Alignment between previous studies and the proposed research program.
- Professional experience: Prior work or internships relevant to urban research.
