Are you looking for rewarding work in the heart of your community? Do you have a few hours to spare each week?  If you have answered yes to these questions, then we would love to hear from you.

School Crossing Patrols deliver a key service to the community, providing safe passage for children and adults as they cross busy roads on their way to and from school. The School Crossing Patrol Function has just celebrated its Platinum Jubilee. School Crossing Patrols have been proudly serving for 70 years nationwide. In Norfolk we are so proud to be part of this legacy. We invite you today to become part of our historic team and help us continue this legacy.

We are looking for people to join the team, where you'll have a brilliant opportunity to work with the local community, building relationships with your designated school and delivering a vital service that keeps people safe. Our team is hugely diverse and this role is accessible to all ages and abilities.

As an employee of Norfolk County Council you will have a dedicated line manager, full induction training with refresher training annually, annual team meetings and full uniform. You’ll be supported to build close links with your designated school where you will play a key part in helping educate the children about road safety.

Full training will be provided, no specific experience required, although the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people will stand you in good stead.

If you are interested in this rewarding role, where you'll deliver a vital service to your local community, then we would love to hear from you.

Before you apply see the full job description and person specification in the below link – this will help you to shape your application to demonstrate how you meet the criteria for the role.  Applications should include CVs and/or supporting statements outlining why you are interested, and why you think you would be a good fit for the role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
