Job Title: Road Export Operator
Location: Leeds
Salary: £27,000 – £38,000 + Benefits (DOE)
A well-established freight forwarder based in Leeds is looking for an ambitious Road Export Operator to take ownership of their European overland movements. In this role, you won't just process orders—you'll run shipments end-to-end, build relationships with carriers, and have real influence over operational success.
What You’ll Do:
- Run the Desk: Manage the complete lifecycle of European road export trailers (FTL, LTL, and Groupage).
- Build Networks: Liaise directly with hauliers across the UK and Europe, negotiating competitive rates and securing capacity.
- Master Compliance: Produce accurate export paperwork, including T-forms, CMRs, and post-Brexit customs documentation.
- Own Client Relationships: Act as the primary contact for key accounts, keeping clients informed and solving route issues in real time.
- Drive Margin: Handle job costing and profit management to keep trailer operations profitable.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
