Freight Forwarder Position - JAS Road Freight UK Ltd – Midlands Office DE74
We are now looking for a Road Freight Operations/Customer Service person to join our small but excellent UK Road forwarding team at East Midlands Airport.
JAS Worldwide are still a family company of 8500 people around the world. The UK road freight team have around 100 trailers specialising in Scandinavia and the Baltics, but cover the whole of Europe. We are known throughout the forwarding industry for our excellent service and live by our values, “People Make the Difference”.

Job Description
You will be helping our customers with their freight movements around the UK and EU end to end.

We handle a mixture of LTL, FTL and time definite shipments across the whole of Europe and the UK.
Typical Daily Tasks
- Managing daily bookings and advising our customers on what is required to get their goods from A to B in a timely and efficient manner.
- Negotiate with subcontractors to protect our P&L against agreed rates.
- Manage spot rate requests.
- Identify new opportunities and develop alongside other JAS team members.
- Liaise with our own teams and subcontractors to ensure bookings are collected and delivered on time and communicated to our customers in a timely manner.
- Run regular KPI reports and be able to comment and consider where improvements need to be made to consistently hit 95% on time performance.
- Proactively manage customer and supplier expectations and follow up on enquiries.
- Input milestones for every shipment into Cargowise.
- Invoicing and taking an interest in how to improve the margin on every file.

We Require
- Excellent customer facing manner and a desire to learn.
- Ability to manage your own workload - we don’t do micromanaging!
- A great team player.
- Experience of managing B2B customers.
- A basic understanding of customs requirements for freight accompanying documents, HS codes and customs clearance processes.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of EU haulage operations.
Additional Information
- We offer hybrid working on completion of training.
- Salary is £28,000- £34,000 DOE.
- Working hours are typically 9-5pm Monday to Friday.
