Job Title: Road Import Operator
Location: Manchester
Salary: Up to £38,000 + Benefits (DOE)
A major international freight forwarder in Manchester is hiring an experienced Road Import Operator to manage European trailer movements from origin booking straight through to UK delivery. If you're looking for operational autonomy, strong stability, and global career pathways, this is for you.
What You’ll Do:
- Drive Inbound Movements: Take full ownership of European road import files (FTL, LTL, and Groupage).
- Master Customs & Documentation: Prepare and submit essential transit paperwork (CMRs, T1/T2 forms) and UK import customs declarations.
- Coordinate Freight Networks: Work alongside international transport partners and UK hauliers to track vehicle movements and handle border clearances.
- Manage Key Accounts: Serve as the direct contact for major clients, offering real-time updates and quick solutions for route delays.
- Protect File Margins: Manage job costing, approve vendor payables, and handle timely customer invoicing.

What You’ll Need:
- Proven track record in European road import operations within freight forwarding.
- Solid grasp of post-Brexit customs processes, Incoterms, and inbound shipping documentation.
- Hands-on experience with systems like CargoWise One, EDI Enterprise, or similar TMS platforms.
- Sharp problem-solving ability and strong communication skills under tight deadlines.
