Location: Newark + National Travel Salary: Competitive Contract Type: Permanent Working Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday)
About the Role

At Ground Control, we play a vital role in supporting safe and efficient rail operations. We’re seeking an experienced RRV Plant Fitter to take ownership of On-Track Plant (OTP), ensuring equipment is maintained, operated safely, and performs optimally.
Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for:
- Operating, maintaining, and servicing On-Track Plant (OTP) according to scheduled machine operations
- Conducting fault finding and repairs on:
- Mechanical systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Electrical systems
- Electronic systems
- Ensuring all OTP and trackside equipment under your responsibility are safe and fully operational
- Compliance with:
- All relevant legislation
- Railway Group Standards
- Network Rail Standards
- M&EE Codes of Practice
- Adherence to company policies on Health & Safety, Quality, and Environment
- Following standards and instructions set by your line manager (Plant Manager)

Requirements
Essential
✅ Experience maintaining and repairing heavy plant equipment, including OTP/RRV ✅ Proficiency in:
- Mechanical fault finding & repair
- Hydraulic fault finding & repair
- Pneumatic fault finding & repair
- Electrical fault finding & repair
- Electronic fault finding & repair ✅ A strong safety awareness with a proactive, safety-first approach ✅ Ability to work independently and take ownership of plant performance
Desirable
👉 Rail industry experience or relevant certifications
