Road Transport Coordinator (0688)

Please note: this is a 6 or 18 month fixed-term contract

This role is based on an annualised hours contract. The postholder will work a total number of hours over the course of the year, rather than a fixed weekly schedule. Working patterns will vary depending on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and peak periods. Shifts will be planned in advance and communicated with reasonable notice. Flexibility is essential to meet operational requirements.

We are committed to providing as much notice as possible for working hours and will seek to balance business needs with employee wellbeing.

The Role

To provide coordination support for Rail Replacement Services (RRS) based at operating locations, minimising disruption to passengers as they transition from transport modes. Monitoring all operational elements to ensure they run smoothly and maintaining communication with RRS control staff to ensure they are informed of all pertinent information.

To provide excellent customer service during RRS operations. Ensuring effective and proactive communication with passengers to support them in completing the journey.

Role Responsibilities

  • Represent Transport for Wales (TfW) in a positive, professional, and approachable manner at all times.
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting passengers and delivering accurate, up-to-date travel information by clear announcements regarding service updates, departure times, and calling patterns when required.
  • To develop a good working knowledge of the TfW network and local geography to assist passengers effectively.
  • Supervise and coordinate the safe and timely movement of rail replacement buses and coaches at designated locations by communicating real-time updates, delays, or changes to control, station teams, and other relevant parties quickly and clearly.
  • Champion safety by ensuring all actions and decisions align with TfW's safety protocols and standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
