Roadside Technician at RAC

About the Role

Join the team that keeps the UK moving as a Roadside Technician! If you have a Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance qualification (or equivalent) and at least 2 years’ experience, you could be part of an exciting role that combines technical expertise with exceptional customer service.

You’ll support the Leeds cluster, covering areas including:

  • Leeds
  • Wakefield
  • Castleford
  • Pontefract
  • Dewsbury
  • Batley
  • Morley
  • Pudsey
  • Otley
  • Garforth

Work is organised locally, allowing you to focus on your home area.


What You’ll Need

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Level 2 light vehicle maintenance qualification (or equivalent).
  • At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience—preferably in technical, electrical, and diagnostic areas.
  • A customer-focused approach—you’ll deal with real people in challenging situations.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of RAC’s Patrol division, your role includes:

  • Providing expert mechanical roadside repairs—From flat batteries to complex fault diagnosis.
  • Performing vehicle diagnostics and onboard diagnostics (OBD) checks quickly and efficiently.
  • Offering emergency breakdown support—ensuring members stay mobile at all times.
  • Delivering confident, reassuring solutions to customers under fast-paced conditions.
  • Ensuring a smooth, positive experience—from call-out to job completion.
