Roadside Rescue Mechanic – The AA

⚠️ Critical Role: Essential for UK’s motoring infrastructure

  • Guaranteed year 1 earnings: £43,976 inclusive of allowances, with OTE up to £60,000 for top performers.

    Shifts:

As The AA’s Roadside Rescue Mechanic, you’ll be more than just a technician—you’ll be the friendly face of Britain’s largest motoring organisation, solving problems on the spot to keep members safely back on the road.


What will I be doing?

  • On-demand service: Starting and finishing work from your driveway, compensated from the moment you arrive at your van until you return home.
  • Independent but connected: Operate across varied locations and conditions while remaining part of a supportive team.
  • Customer-centred approach: Apply your technical expertise and clear communication to deliver positive on-the-spot solutions for breakdown scenarios.
  • Problem-solving under pressure: Use your technical skills and calm resolve to handle all types of roadside emergencies, day or night.

What do I need?

Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with relevant experience.
  • Category B driving licence (valid to 6 points or fewer).

Personality & Commitment

  • Adaptability: Confident in learning and using new technology (tools provided).
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays—because breakdowns don’t conform to a nine-to-five routine.
