Roadside Rescue Mechanic – The AA

Our Commitment to You

  • Guaranteed year 1 earnings of £41,388 inclusive of allowances, with average OTE up to £60,000 based on top performers
  • Flexible shifts: As a patrol, you’ll work an average 40-hour week, with a variety of shift patterns available. Choose a schedule that suits your personal and professional needs.
    • Rest days and shift length vary by pattern selection

You’ll go the extra mile for our members—literally. As the UK’s largest motoring organisation, The AA ensures drivers get back on the road safely, no matter what.

As our Roadside Rescue Mechanic:

  • Start and finish on your driveway; earn from van departure to vehicle arrival home
  • Work independently across varied locations and conditions while staying connected to a supportive team
  • Solve technical problems with effectiveness and clarity to deliver a positive customer experience
  • Handle a wide range of roadside challenges with confidence, calm, and readiness

What Do You Need?

  • NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications with relevant experience
  • Full Category B driver’s licence (6 points or fewer)
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays (since breakdowns don’t follow a schedule)
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new technologies—we provide tools, you bring curiosity!
