Roadside Rescue Mechanic – The AA

- Guaranteed year 1 earnings: £39,429 (inclusive of location allowance) with potential OTE up to £60,000 for top performers
- Flexible shifts: As a patrol, you’ll work an average of 40-hour week with a variety of shift patterns available. Choose a schedule that fits your personal and professional needs, balancing rest days and shift lengths as required.
You’ll go the extra mile for our members as The AA’s Roadside Rescue Mechanic, ensuring our members get back on the road safely—day or night, rain or shine. What will I be doing?
- Paid from driveway to driveway: Start of shift on your driveway, end of shift at home. You’ll earn from the moment you get in the van until you park up after work.
- Independence with team support: Work across varied locations and conditions while remaining a valued part of a supportive, cohesive team.
- Technical support & customer experience: Use your technical knowledge and clear communication to ensure a positive customer experience—making every interaction count.
- Problem-solving under pressure: On-the-spot intervention using technical skills and a calm approach to handle a range of roadside situations.

What do I need?
Checklist for eligibility: ✅ NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent qualifications and appropriate experience ✅ A full category B driving licence with 6 points or fewer ✅ Confidence with new technology—we’ll provide the tools, you bring the curiosity ✅ Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays, as breakdowns don’t follow a schedule.
