About the Role
As an AA Roadside Rescue Mechanic, you’ll be the real superhero for thousands of everyday drivers.
- Get them back on the road – In any weather, at any time. Environmental conditions don’t matter; you do.
- Unique responsibility – Take the call, arrive fast, solve the job. You’re the friendly face on every rescue.
- Support drives solutions – Pairs your technical expertise with human kindness, building trust that keeps people coming back to The AA time and again.
You’ll handle:**
- Swift customer communication and reassurance.
- Complex breakdown awards at the roadside.
- On-site repair from battery, oil, and fluids to brake systems.
- Loaded 4x4 with full workshop tools – Your dive-back garage at the scene of every rescue.
You must thrive on:
- Problem-solving – Critical thinking and speed in high-pressure situations.

Responsibilities
You'll start and finish in the comfort of your driveway, fully paid from the moment you enter the van to the moment you're safely home.
- Ensure a seamless, positive customer experience through exemplary technical and communication skills.
- Problem-solve on the spot – Apply your understanding of various technologies and calm professionalism to handle a wide range of documented and unreported issues.
- Operate independently across the national network, knowing you're always part of a supportive team.
- Use collaborate The Fracttal digital simulator for well-supported upskilling.
Requirements
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair OR an equivalent qualification with relevant experience.
- Full UK Category B driving licence, with 6 points or fewer on your license.
- Valid insurance or exemption for driving on public roads (clean, tidy vehicle, unrestricted).
- A passion for ensuring members stay mobile and stress-free.
Preferred
- Experience checking, repairing, and conducting service cover closer inspections of vehicles.
- Sporty and agile – You’ll handle vehicles and tools routinely as well as move from your vehicle to the scene of the breakdown quickly and efficiently.
