Robotics Welding Technician Additive Manufacturing
Location: Ampthill, Bedfordshire
Salary: Competitive Salary + Benefits

Our client, a leading organisation operating at the forefront of advanced aerospace and defence manufacturing, is seeking a Robotics Welding Technician Additive Manufacturing to join their growing Advanced Manufacturing team. This is a rare opportunity to work with cutting-edge Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) technology, supporting the production of complex, large-scale metal components using state-of-the-art multi-axis robotic welding systems. If you have experience working with robotic manufacturing equipment, automated welding systems, or advanced production technologies and are looking to be part of an innovative manufacturing environment, we'd like to hear from you.
The Opportunity
Working within a highly skilled engineering and manufacturing team, you will support the operation, monitoring and continuous improvement of robotic welding and additive manufacturing processes.
The role combines robotics, welding technology, process control and quality assurance, making it ideal for individuals who enjoy solving technical challenges and working with emerging manufacturing technologies.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate and support advanced multi-axis robotic welding and additive manufacturing systems
- Set up, monitor and optimise manufacturing processes to ensure quality and repeatability
- Modify and maintain robotic programmes, including ABB RAPID or similar control platforms
- Monitor weld pool behaviour, bead formation and process stability during production
- Conduct inspections and support quality verification activities
- Investigate process deviations and implement corrective actions
- Capture and analyse manufacturing data to drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality teams on process development activities
- Maintain accurate process documentation and traceability records
About You
We're looking for candidates with a strong technical background in automated manufacturing, robotics or welding technologies who are comfortable working in a precision-driven environment.
Essential Experience
- Experience operating robotic, CNC, PLC-controlled or automated manufacturing equipment
- Understanding of welding processes and welding metallurgy
- Experience with robotic programming, ideally ABB RAPID or similar systems
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
- Excellent attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Desirable Experience
- Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM)
- Robotic welding systems
- Metal additive manufacturing technologies
- Aerospace, defence or highly regulated manufacturing environments
- AS9100 or ISO9001 quality standards
- Process monitoring, data acquisition or digital manufacturing systems
