Housekeeping Assistant – Raffles London

Scope of the Position

As a Housekeeping Assistant, your mission is to uphold Raffles’ uncompromising 5-star standards by:

  • Ensuring immaculate cleaning and maintenance of guest rooms, corridors, and communal areas while adhering to LQA and guest service protocols.
  • Serving as a guest-facing ambassador, embodying Raffles’ core values in all interactions.
  • Collaborating with the House Porter team to supply guest rooms with necessary amenities and provisions, prioritising guest satisfaction.
  • Working proactively to ensure a seamless stay—from smooth arrivals to departing with delight.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Housekeeping & Maintenance

  • Provide a prompt and meticulous cleaning service, aligning with guests’ individual preferences and Raffles’ 5-star standards.
  • Train on correct cleaning techniques—using prescribed chemicals and products for surfaces, fixtures, and furniture.
  • Assist in the morning shift cleaning routine upon arrivals, ensuring rooms are ready for guests’ entry.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain cleaning equipment, store rooms, and utensils in peak condition.
  • Immediately report any issues to supervision, including:
    • Damage or loss of linen, furniture, fixtures, or equipment.
    • Faulty equipment, light fixtures, or utilities requiring urgent attention.
  • Administer Lost and Found procedures, adhering strictly to hotel policy.

Guest Experience & Privacy

  • Demonstrate unwavering professionalism—respecting guest privacy and comfort by moving quietly through corridors and service areas.
  • Analyze the room and anticipate guest needs, stocking supplies as necessary to elevate their stay.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to resolve guest concerns promptly—ensuring exceptional service at every touchpoint.

Safety & Operational Standards

  • Commit to 24-hour readiness—participating in shifts that support non-stop operations at the grandeur of Whitehall.
  • Handle emergency situations with composure, knowing and applying:
    • Fire evacuations
    • Emergency protocols
    • Bomb threats and security actions
  • Prioritise safety at all times, submitting hazard reports immediately and contributing to a safety-conscious culture.
  • Assistant coverage for departmental meetings and take on additional tasks or temporary shifts during line manager or senior staff absence.

Health and Safety Compliance

  • Uphold all health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with cleanliness, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and facility hazard prevention.
  • Promote harmonious safety awareness across team activities, identifying potential risks and supporting a proactive environment.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Attention to detail—able to deliver flawless cleaning and service under strict 5-star criteria.
  • Teamwork & adaptability—stay composed and supportive within a dynamic environment, including when handling unexpected issues.
  • Consistent professionalism—maintain calm demeanour and impeccable grooming, even under pressure.
  • Top-tier communication—ensuring clear, kind, and effective interactions with guests and teammates orally and in writing.
  • Reliability & time management—manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously while preserving efficiency and immaculate presentation.
  • Fit for 24-hour operations—no restrictions to rotating shifts or on-call availability.
  • Physical fitness—capable of handling repetitive tasks, lifting up to 10 kg (linen, trays), and maintaining stitch time.

Desirable Experience

  • Prior experience within a luxury hospitality setting, specifically at establishments rated Leading Hotels of the World, Forbes 5-star, or similar global luxury brands.
  • Demonstrated comfort with tutions, stewardship activities or gold service protocols.
