About the Role
As Room Manager, you will be the driving force behind the success of your room or unit—overseeing the "everyday" and taking the lead. You will not only operate an efficient and high-standard room/unit but will also inspire, role model, coach, and develop your Apprentice and Qualified Early Years Educators to deliver a robust curriculum, giving all children the skills and experiences they need for a limitless future.
You will balance the needs of children, parents, your team, and the business—ensuring you excel in Early Years Excellence. Additionally, you will fulfil a Designated Role within the nursery.

What You’ll Be Doing
1. Child-Centric Responsibilities
- Ensure Cherubs Nurseries age-appropriate routines are deeply embedded, ensuring children have access to all facilities and extra-curricular activities.
- Oversee the bi-weekly planning cycle for your room/unit, aligning it with Cherubs standards and reflecting each child’s assessments, cohort, and interests.
- Maintain the Nursery App, managing child profiles, parent communications, record-keeping (daily diaries, accident logs), observations, and progress tracking.
- Promote high standards of child presentation and personal hygiene, including regular changes, cleanliness checks, and comfort measures.
- Oversee room/unit presentation and maintenance, including planning boards, displays, storage, cleanliness, and furniture care (including shared items).
- Manage snack and mealtimes, adhering to Cherubs Food Policy and Allergy/Intolerance/Dietary Policies.
- Work with your Head of Nursery to maintain a robust Key Person System, ensuring smooth transitions between Key Persons and rooms while prioritising children’s needs.

2. Communicate with Purpose
- Effectively allocate daily/weekly tasks to your team, considering their experience (e.g., nappy changes, activities, cleaning).
- Lead daily handover—being a smiley, positive, and knowledgeable point of contact for parents, representing your room/unit and Cherubs Nurseries with excellence.
- Attend monthly meetings with your Head of Nursery to review room/unit progress and align with nursery/business objectives.
- Keep Qualified and Apprentice Educators updated on nursery business changes, answering questions proficiently and guiding them to relevant resources.
3. Play to Win
- Fully embrace a Designated Role, ensuring high standards and tailored compliance for your nursery’s requirements.
- Support in planning key events, such as Summer Fair, Pre-School Graduation, Fairy Night, Parent’s Evening, and Stay and Plays.
- Own all room checks, forms, and assessments, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of Cherubs policies and procedures, consulting and guiding your team appropriately.
4. Seek Out Solutions
- Manage parent feedback (positive and negative) constructively, involving your Head of Nursery when required.
- Administer First Aid (including medication) safely, following compliance protocols.
- Support children with additional needs (SEND/EAL), collaborating with the Head of Nursery, SENDCo, and parents to secure necessary support.
- Lead All About Me and Settling In processes, fostering positive techniques like Family Books and creating a home-from-home environment.

5. Look Out for Each Other
- Actively onboard new Educators, welcoming them and upskilling them to Cherubs standards.
- Champion your team through regular praise during briefings, training, and company communications.
- Prepare your team for internal audits, mock/took audits, and live Ofsted inspections, prompting curiosity and excellence.
