Room Manager - New Setting Launching Sept 2026

Room Manager – Early Years

About The Role

As Room Manager, you will be the driving force behind the success of your room or unit, overseeing daily operations and leading with inspiration, role modelling, and coaching. Your core focus will be delivering Cherubs Nurseries' ambitious early years curriculum to equip children with essential skills and experiences.

You’ll balance the needs of children, parents, your team, and the business while ensuring excellence in every aspect of early childhood education. This role also includes a Designated Safeguarding Role within the nursery.

Key Responsibilities

Child-Centric Leadership

  • Embed and enforce age-appropriate routines at Cherubs Nurseries to maximise learning opportunities.
  • Oversee the bi-weekly planning cycle, ensuring it aligns with assessments, educational standards, and children’s interests.
  • Maintain accurate records using Nursery App, including:
    • Child profiles
    • Parent communications
    • Daily diaries
    • Accident logs
    • Observations and assessments
  • Ensure high standards of child presentation and hygiene.
  • Responsibility for room aesthetics and functionality:
    • Planning boards and displays
    • Storage organisation
    • Cleanliness and furniture maintenance
  • Oversee snack and mealtime, adhering to Cherubs Nurseries’ Food & Nutritional Policies.
  • Collaborate with your Head of Nursery to maintain a robust Key Person System, ensuring positive transitions for children.

Effective Communication & Team Leadership

  • Assign responsibilities to Apprentice and Qualified Educators, ensuring aligned objectives.
  • Lead daily handovers—representing your team with positivity and clarity to parents and families.
  • Regular monthly meetings with your Head of Nursery to align with nursery goals.
  • Proactively share updates, fostering open communication and addressing questions or concerns.

Strategic Operations & Compliance

  • Fulfill Designated Safeguarding Role with excellence and confidentiality.
  • Involvement in nursery events, such as:
    • Summer Fair
    • Pre-School Graduation
    • Fairy Night
    • Parents’ Evenings
    • Stay & Plays
  • Responsibility for room checks, documentation, and assessments.
  • Ensure full knowledge of Cherubs Nurseries’ policies and procedures, with guidance when necessary.

Support & Problem-Solving

  • Handle parent feedback constructively, involving senior staff if needed.
  • Safely administer first aid and recordkeeping for medication or incidents.
  • Provide SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) and EAL (English as an Additional Language) support with collaboration from the SENDCo and parents.
  • Facilitate settling-in procedures, using resources like Family Books.

Team Culture & Professional Growth

  • Onboard and support new Educators for seamless integration and upskilling.
  • Highlight team successes in briefings, training, and company communications.
  • Prepare the team for:
    • Internal audits
    • Mock Ofsted inspections
    • Live Ofsted inspections
