Vacancy: Rope Access LOLER Inspector
A vacancy has arisen for the position of Rope Access LOLER Inspector as part of our Rig Inspection Services (RIS) Team.
Key Responsibilities
- The position is primarily offshore based; office attendance may be required at company discretion for training, audit support, or project preparation.
- Carry out thorough examinations of lifting equipment and lifting accessories in accordance with LOLER 1998 Regulation 9.
- Conduct LOLER inspections at prescribed intervals, verifying compliance with the installation’s lifting equipment management scheme and certification register.
- Verify that all lifting equipment and accessories carry current thorough examination certificates (Report of Thorough Examination — RoTE) and are within date for re-examination.
- Identify and quarantine any defective, damaged, or out-of-date lifting equipment, applying IMMEDIATE prohibition notices where a risk of serious personal injury exists.
- Utilise rope access capabilities to access elevated or difficult-to-reach areas for LOLER inspection.
- Perform rope access inspections safely in harsh offshore environments, ensuring adherence to IRATA safe working practices.
- Produce clear and concise Reports of Thorough Examination (RoTE) in accordance with LOLER Schedule 1, detailing equipment examined, methods used, defects found, test results, and any limitations or restrictions.
- Record all inspection findings in the company’s digital inspection management system (e.g., Motion) and ensure the client’s lifting equipment register is updated.
- Raise formal defect notifications for any items requiring immediate attention, categorising findings by severity (critical, major, minor, observation).
- Provide end-of-trip reports summarising completed work, outstanding items, and recommendations for the client and RIS management.
- Carry out work in a timely and efficient manner to meet deadlines, changing priorities when the situation requires.
- Carry out work in accordance with Odfjell procedures and statutory/client specifications and requirements.
- Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.

Requirements
- The right to work in the UK
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in the onshore /offshore inspection sector
- LEEA Diploma’s (or working towards) in lifting accessories, manual and powered lifting machines and supporting structures
- ASNT or PCN certification in one or more NDT disciplines (VT, MT, UT, ET) is advantageous
- Offshore Certificates: UK medical, survival and MIST
- Valid Eye Test Certification
- Rope Access: IRATA Level 1 with 3 years minimum experience
