Overview We are seeking an experienced Rotating Equipment Engineer to join our Yanbu Refinery Department (YRD) under Reliability & Asset Management Unit. Yanbu Refinery Department (YRD) is a key refining facility within Saudi Aramco Reliability & Asset Management Unit (R&AMU) is responsible for delivering high-quality technical support to YRD’s processing plants. The unit ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical rotating equipment through comprehensive performance evaluation, root cause failure analysis (RCA), and field troubleshooting. Additionally, the unit supports maintenance activities including equipment overhaul, predictive maintenance, and the review and optimization of preventive maintenance procedures to ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability.
The primary role is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical rotating equipment across the refinery. This includes leading the development and optimization of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies, conducting root cause analysis on complex equipment failures, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities You will be required to perform the following: Provide technical support to the operation team during the entire lifecycle of the rotating equipment, analyzing their performances, operative conditions and boundaries, in order to ensure reliable and safe operations. Troubleshoot rotating equipment failures & performance particularly centrifugal and reciprocating compressors. Utilize knowledge and familiarity with the international standards in order to improve the equipment performance. Implement best-in-class solutions pertaining to the rotating equipment, as foreseen by international standards and other internal company standards. Lead efficiency improvement initiates, upgrading programs, & projects in the field of rotating equipment. Provide technical solutions whenever the machines experience failures, utilizing sound maintenance strategies to analyze, address and rectify the root causes in order to prevent reoccurrences. Propose changes in operating modes, or technological improvement, or maintenance strategies implementation, in order to support the company vision of continuous improvement throughout collaboration and people conversation. Supports proactive approach that identifies and addresses potential issues/ threats that could impact rotating equipment reliability Supports corrective maintenance practices such as balancing, alignment, special bearing and seal installations, shaft alignment criteria, and clearance measurements techniques. Support the development and optimization of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, supporting workforce development and knowledge transfer. Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and engineering software to monitor equipment condition and performance trends. Ensure compliance with Aramco standards, international codes (e.g., ASME, API)
Minimum Requirements A successful candidate would have: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized and approved program. Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in rotating equipment maintenance within the oil & gas, refining, or petrochemical industry, with a significant portion in a senior or lead engineering role, with expertise in the following areas: Centrifugal and reciprocating compressors performance evaluation and field troubleshooting. Lead technical design, selection and commissioning of new rotating equipment and its auxiliaries. Strong knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, and international codes, standards and specifications, including API610, API 617, API 692, API 691 are required. Proficiency in failure analysis tools and methodologies such as RCA, FMEA, FRACAS, and TapRoot. Strong Knowledge of maintenance systems and how to utilize them in order to support providing the solution. Demonstrated experience in vibration analysis, lubrication systems, and predictive maintenance techniques. Certification (e.g., CAT II, MLA II) is preferred. Familiarity with control systems such as DCS, ESD, Anti-surging systems and steam turbines trip mechanisms. Reliability-Centered Maintenance implementing systematic methodologies to enhance equipment reliability and performance. Proficiency in using engineering analysis tools. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers. Willingness to work in a dynamic, multicultural team environment and support operational excellence initiatives. Proficiency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
