Rotating Registered Veterinary Nurse (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)
We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious Rotating Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Swift Referrals on a 12 month contract.
Swift Referrals is a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary referral hospital, dedicated to delivering exceptional veterinary care across orthopaedics, neurology, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery—all under one roof. Our hospital boasts world-class facilities, including advanced imaging equipment such as a 1.5T Siemens MRI scanner, a 128-slice GE CT scanner, Doppler ultrasound, endoscopy, arthroscopy, and cutting-edge operating theatres. We also offer separate dog and cat wards to ensure the comfort of our patients, alongside a dedicated ECC and OOH centre with a large ICU to care for critical cases.

How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Rotating Referral Nurse, you will deliver advanced nursing care to complex cases within a referral hospital environment, supporting patients, clients, and clinical teams.
You’ll work as part of a team, contributing to high standards of nursing care, supporting clinical decision-making, and sharing your experience and knowledge with colleagues to continually improve patient outcomes and service delivery.

This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week split over 3 days, Monday to Friday. There will also be a weekend rota of 1 in 5 weekends with TOIL for working given either side of weekend.
General responsibilities:
As a Rotating Nurse at Swift Referrals, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding patient care and supporting our multidisciplinary referral services, including Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Advanced Imaging. From patient admission to discharge, you will ensure the highest standards of care throughout the patient journey.
Your responsibilities will span across surgery, internal medicine, and wards teams, encompassing imaging, theatre preparation, anaesthesia monitoring, ward nursing (including complex care for critical patients), lab diagnostics, rehabilitation, and client support. Flexibility is vital, as our team works collaboratively across all disciplines and assists with emergencies as needed.

You are an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with interest in anesthesia and surgery and a passion for referral-level care. You’ll bring:
Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS Significant experience in clinical practice with advanced nursing skills relevant to your discipline Experience working with surgical cases in a referral or advanced-care setting Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team A commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance, and continuous improvement
