Southern Region - Network Rail

Location: London & Sussex

Salary: Starting salary £35,582 (Band 4B)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hybrid Working: Office-based minimum 3 days per week

Join the Southern Region where your work truly matters

Covering Wessex, Sussex and Kent, the Southern Region is one of the busiest and most dynamic parts of the railway. Our teams keep some of the UK's most vital passenger and freight routes moving every day.

This is a place where collaboration, innovation and resilience are key, and where your contribution will directly impact millions of journeys. As we continue to transform and modernise our estate, we're looking for a highly motivated Route Facilities Manager to help provide safe, compliant and efficient workplaces across the region.

About The Role

As Route Facilities Manager, you'll support the Regional Property & Facilities Manager in delivering facilities management services across a diverse portfolio of operational and corporate properties. You'll play a key role in ensuring our buildings remain safe, compliant, sustainable and fit for purpose while delivering an excellent customer experience.

This is a varied role that combines facilities management, contractor management, compliance assurance, project delivery and stakeholder engagement.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Deliver and continuously improve facilities management services across the Route estate.
  • Manage and monitor contractor performance across both hard and soft FM services.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of building services, including HVAC, Mechanical & Electrical systems and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations relating to fire safety, water hygiene, asbestos management and workplace health and safety.
  • Undertake building inspections, audits and site visits across the Route.
  • Support the delivery of asset renewals, workplace improvements and facilities projects.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers, stakeholders and suppliers to drive service excellence.
  • Monitor expenditure, manage budgets and identify opportunities to improve value for money.
  • Maintain property and asset data to support future investment and estate planning decisions.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and ensure safe systems of work are always followed.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
