Route Surveyor - Specialist Haulage

Location: Home with Travel
Salary: up to £55,000 plus Benefits

My client, a leading provider of Specialist Haulage solutions, require a Route Surveyor to be responsible for delivering multimodal transport & logistics solutions both internally and to their clients. Working closely with the Heavy Lift & Specialist Transport team, you will provide an engineered and checked transport solution as per the specifications and restrictions. You will ensure that proposals and feasibility studies are delivered on time and within the financial requirements as set out in the Business Case / Commercial contract, whilst maximising profit where possible.

This role can be based anywhere in the UK and will require travel and overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completing transport drawings as per the information supplied by the customer
  • Searching for and checking feasibility of routes while taking into consideration the NH Water Preferred Policy
  • Conducting on-site investigations to capture transport limitations, restrictions, and risks
  • Carrying out Swept Path Analysis of any potential restrictions and documenting all information into a route feasibility study / route report before issuing findings to the customer
  • Liaising with consultants regarding structural checks and limitations
  • Ensuring that all project HSQE documentation is completed on-time and of sufficient quality to project requirements
  • Liaising with Head of Project Delivery to ensure that all routing surveys and permitting requirements are completed on-time and are of sufficient quality
  • Controlling the assigned budget and delivering profit on each works package
  • Supporting, carrying out, and compiling technical transport route surveys and feasibility studies
  • Developing and designing multi-modal transport/lifting concepts

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Engineering qualification (or equivalent knowledge, demonstratable through experience).
  • Knowledge of the Heavy Lift and Transport industry
  • Full driving licence, Cat B1
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills - Microsoft Office and AutoCAD (or equivalent)
  • Excellent organisation skills; both personal and professional
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Travel, nights away will be required for varying durations.
