Join us as a UAS Senior Technician at our Farnborough site, where you’ll work with cutting-edge technology alongside some of the most brilliant minds in your field.


Key Responsibilities

As a UAS Senior Technician, you’ll report to the Team Leader and be responsible for:

  • Preparation, maintenance, and operation of diverse Uncrewed Systems (UAS) assets for Test & Evaluation trials
  • Scheduled and routine maintenance of UAS, adhering to approved data and manuals
  • Operation of UAS for which you are trained and competent
  • Building, functional testing, repair, and disassembly of UAS and payloads as per approved standards
  • Problem-solving and fault diagnosis on UAS and associated equipment
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant standards, including:
    • CAA Regulatory Publications
    • OEM Manuals
    • QinetiQ Operating Framework
    • Air Publications

Essential Experience & Skills

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a regulated, safety-focused environment, working with Uncrewed Systems
  • UAS flying experience (essential)
  • Technical knowledge of various UAS technologies and types
  • High-level IT competence, including the ability to solve technical issues and learn new systems quickly
  • Familiarity with:
    • Online manuals
    • Maintenance recording solutions

Essential Qualifications

  • CAA Remote Piloting qualification (Highly desirable)
  • Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical) or completed a relevant engineering apprenticeship
  • Professionally registered as an Eng Tech (or capable of progressing)
  • Full UK driving licence

Role Location & Details

  • 37-hour weekly role, based at Farnborough site
  • Minimum 3 days per week on-site attendance
  • Flexible working patterns included (travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites may be required)
