UHS RTT Data Validator – Urology Team Position

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust

About the Role

The Urology Team within Surgery at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications to fill a critical position focused on Referral to Treatment (RTT) Data Validation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leverage specialist RTT pathway knowledge

    • Validate 18-week RTT surgical patient journeys ensuring compliance with national RTT rules and UHS standards.
    • Validate that all pathway events are accurately recorded and meet official guidelines.
  • Ensure high‑quality data integrity

    • Identify, investigate, and correct RTT data errors across surgical pathways using expert pathway management.
    • Validate data in UHS systems, such as the Patient Administration System (PAS), ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Apply deep understanding of RTT rules for smooth operational reporting, waiting list and statutory compliance.
  • Champion improved RTT performance

    • Act as RTT subject matter expert, advising clinical and administrative teams.
    • Train and mentor colleagues on RTT processes to enhance consistency and data quality.
    • Contribute to process optimisation by addressing issues and recommending solutions.
  • Joseph your role with understanding precision

    • Validate multiple specialities, ensuring patients do not breach their 18-week RTT target.
    • Stay informed of organisational changes, adapting as required to maintain pathway integrity.
    • Support internal initiatives, including audits, reporting, and SOP reviews.
  • Collaborate for operational excellence

    • Work alongside Outpatients Administration,cedes while reviewing efficiencies.
    • Participate in training new colleagues and covering absences during annual leave/sickness.
    • Use audit trails and structured feedback to teach staff best practices in data entry and pathway management.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

The role demands meticulous application of:

  • Pathway validation – Adhering to RTT clocks, national guidelines, and Trust policy.
  • Data adjustment – Fixing inaccuracies in Patient Information Systems to maintain accurate records.
  • Consultation to support – Informing and guiding colleagues on 18-week deadline implications.
  • Conflict prevention – Proactively identifying potential RTT breaches and escalating concerns.
  • Workload prioritisation – Managing fluctuating demands independently in keeping with surgical priorities.
  • Learning mentorship – Supporting training for new staff/interactive sessions on RTT compliance.

Requirements

Qualifications/Knowledge Experience

Essential 📚 GCSE Maths and English (Grades 4,C) or equivalent. 📚 A Level, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in Business/Customer Care preferred. 💼 Forward-thinking professional with verifiable experience in 18-week RTT pathway validation. 💻 Proficiency with Trust-wide IT systems and patient data portals (e.g., PAS). 📚 Training in RTT pathways (e.g., clarifying registry) to gain understanding. 📝 Notable handling of confidential patient records under GDPR governance.

Desirable 🏆 Role of mentoring or training within national healthcare frameworks.
