Runner - Soho Farmhouse ( Pen Yen)

The Role

At Soho House, a Runner plays a vital supporting role in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of service between the kitchen and front-of-house teams. As a key link in the dining experience, the Runner is responsible for delivering food and beverages promptly, maintaining cleanliness and organisation across the service areas.

Your main responsibility is to:

  • Assist the waiting staff
  • Ensure members enjoy a superior experience
  • Deliver food orders from the kitchen (or drinks orders from the bar) to members’ tables
  • Act as a point of contact between the kitchen/bar and the floor

Responsibilities

  • Key duties include:
    • Bring food/drink quickly from the kitchen/bar to its respective location in the restaurants and deliver to members
    • Maintain a spotless, pristine work environment
    • Provide service to an assigned section and ensure accountability for it
    • Develop personalised relationships with members
    • Polish cutlery to ensure readiness for service
    • Prepare table additions in advance (e.g., lemon wraps, condiments, butter portions)
    • Perform opening and closing procedures, including setup and teardown of stations
    • Handle service equipment carefully while storing it correctly
    • Maintain a spotless and pristine working environment
    • Attend regular meetings with front and back-of-house teams
    • Learn about menu changes, specials, and participate in daily tastings

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in a similar high-end dining environment
  • Excellent knowledge of food and beverage, including wine service
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a hands-on approach
  • Confident, polished, and professional demeanour
  • Exceptional communication and organisational skills
  • Familiarity with POS systems and reservation software

Pay Range (UK)

£14.50–£14.50 GBP per hour Note: Ranges in other regions may vary.
