Passionate about rural communities and making sure local people have a voice?
Join us as a Rural Partnerships Officer and help us ensure new homes reflect what communities truly need.
About the role
As a Rural Partnerships Officer, you’ll play a key role in helping to shape the future of rural communities by supporting the delivery of much-needed affordable homes.
Working closely with parish councils, local residents, and partner organisations, you’ll help identify and evidence local housing need, ensuring new homes that genuinely reflect what communities need to thrive.
This is a varied and engaging role where no two days are the same. You’ll lead on coordinating housing needs surveys, analysing and interpreting data, and translating your findings into clear, practical advice that helps communities explore their options and move forward with confidence.
You’ll be at the heart of community engagement - organising consultation events, building trusted relationships with stakeholders, and supporting projects through their early stages. Alongside this, you’ll contribute to wider rural housing strategies, strengthen partnerships across the West Midlands, and champion the work of Midlands Rural Housing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
