Role: SaaS Platforms Ops Engineer

We are looking for a SaaS Platforms Ops Engineer to innovate, win, and grow with us in Theale!

About the Role

Platform Operations is building out a new centralised capability to run and improve our new generation of SaaS-based payment platforms, a strategic imperative that will play a major part in defining, implementing, and operating new capabilities.

The team is responsible for the day-to-day running of a suite of global SaaS platforms that support our growth, including:

  • Capacity management
  • Adherence to change management processes
  • Automation and monitoring across the complex technology estate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Real-world experience in a global operation
  • A fanatical commitment to repeatable processes and automation
  • A deep understanding of the challenging choices needed to create scale, resilience, security, and availability
  • Business savvy to manage complex situations with stakeholders and clients

Key Responsibilities

  • Alerting and Monitoring: Scope, configure, and regularly review alerting and monitoring to ensure rapid notification and resolution of production incidents.

  • Platform Incident Recovery:

    • Service restoration during incidents.
    • Create, validate, and update service recovery runbooks.
    • Collaborate with application experts to deliver processes that facilitate “one-click” service recovery capabilities.
  • Platform Change:

    • Configure and deliver new services to the platform.
    • Create, validate, and update runbooks for standard changes.
  • Platform Availability:

    • Develop availability and uptime reporting.
    • Drive improvements in platform uptime.
  • Always Available Platform:

    • Participate in the out-of-hours “on-call” rota to ensure industry-leading incident response is in place for any production issues.

Qualities and Skills

If you have two or more of the following qualities and skills, we’d like to hear from you:

  • SWIFT/SIC operations knowledge
  • Good communication skills (fluent in English, preferred to have German fluency)
  • Formal training in Computer Science or IT
  • Experience in server administration on Windows Server and Linux environments
  • Experience working with:
    • SQL, SQL Server, and API technologies
    • Automating tasks using scripts or automation tools such as Jenkins
  • Ability to:
    • Create and follow Standard Operating Procedures
    • Configure monitoring tools, implement alerting (Elastic, Grafana, etc.)
  • A strong desire to work in a technical environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a technical environment.
