Specialist Practitioner (Advanced) – SACT Team

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust

Job Overview

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is offering an exciting 12-month fixed-term contract as a Specialist Practitioner (Advanced) within the SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy) Team.

We are seeking an experienced, motivated nurse with a commitment to improving patient experience and clinical outcomes. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, ideally with experience in hospital-led clinics.

This role provides support and training to develop you towards your Specialist Practitioner (Advanced) status, with progression potential from Band 6 (trainee) to Band 7 (faster-track) if competencies are already met.

About the Role

This role offers a progressive pathway for nurses to develop advanced specialist skills while being part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering patient-centred care in a high-impact supportive environment.

Core Accountabilities

  • Provide specialist nursing/AHP support for a defined patient population, working autonomously in a high-impact clinical setting.
  • Lead and coordinate therapeutic management of patient caseloads, acting as the named key worker.
  • Deliver specialist advice, education, and support to patients, carers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Advise and contribute to service development, working across professional, departmental, and Trust boundaries.
  • Support and lead clinical initiatives to enhance seamless, patient-centred care.
  • Promote effective inter-professional teamwork while maintaining a professional bedside manner.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
