Key Information

- Employment Type: Permanent – Part Time
- Location: Bucks – Aylesbury (with occasional travel to High Wycombe)
- Salary: £29,795 / year (Includes enhanced rates for hours worked 11pm–12am, equating to an additional £10,951.67 total.)
- Hours: 6pm–12am (Wed/Thu) (10 hrs) + 3 hrs admin time*

About the Role
At Buckinghamshire Mind, we’re seeking an innovative and compassionate Safe Haven Team Lead to oversee our mental health crisis support service. In this role, you’ll:
- Provide supervision and leadership to a small team of Mental Health Crisis Support Workers.
- Create a calm, welcoming alternative to emergency departments for individuals in out-of-hours crises.
- Foster confidential, non-judgemental support while connecting people with appropriate services.
Contract: Permanent, part-time (13 hrs/week). Salary reflects FTE pay + enhanced rate for shift hours (11pm-12am = 30% bonus).

Leadership & Team Support
- Lead, supervise, and develop staff while adhering to professional boundaries.
- Collaborate with Buckinghamshire Mind’s Operational Management Team.
- Ensure high-quality service delivery, focusing on individualised crisis care.

Crisis Intervention
- Respond with caution, empathy, and pragmatism to emotional distress, high-risk scenarios, and de-escalation situations.
- Support service users in suicide prevention, safety planning, and independence-building.
Service Alignment
- Raise awareness of alternative mental health services and future-proof support plans.
- Develop constructive relationships with external partners (NHS, professionals, agencies).
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold equal opportunities/D&I values.
Ideal Candidate Criteria
- Expertise in mentorship: Track record of leading, supervising, and motivating teams in high-pressure environments.
- Crisis competence: Ability to assess, stabilise, and de-escalate safely in emotionally charged situations.
- Recovery-focused mindset: Passion for equal care, self-management, and holistic recovery paths.
- Interpersonal skills: Strong active listening, empathy, and adaptability in supporting diverse cultures.
- Collaboration strength: Fluent in working with stakeholders (both voluntary and statutory).
