🎯 Key Responsibilities
This role is at the heart of safeguarding compliance and attendance improvement, requiring expertise in both fields to:
✔ Lead attendance strategies – Collaborate with parents, analyse attendance data, and implement interventions, including processing Fixed Penalty Notice referrals.

✔ Oversee safeguarding compliance – Monitor and record child protection concerns, devise plans, and escalate risks to relevant agencies.
✔ Proactively contribute to multi-agency safeguarding – Attend Child Protection, MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference), and Social Care referrals, ensuring timely action and intervention.
✔ Demonstrate specialist safeguarding knowledge – Interpret concerns effectively, apply statutory guidance, and liaise professionally with external parties.
✔ Support the leadership team – Provide critical, strategic support to ensure high sheltered standards of both attendance and safeguarding in line with the school’s mission.
🔍 Required Knowledge & Experience
- Essential:
- Advanced safeguarding expertise to navigate complex scenarios and apply practice guidelines.
- Strong communication skills for diverse audiences—families, carers, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Excellent organisation & time management to balance urgent safeguarding duties with evidence-based attendance analysis.
- Sympathetic approach—able to support children emotionally and recognise safeguarding risks.
- Desirable:
- Proven experience in school-based attendance or safeguarding roles.
- Proactive, self-led ability to take initiative with minimal supervision.
