Safeguarding Officer

Safeguarding Officer (Temporary – Maternity Leave)

Academy: Outwood Academy City Fields

Start Date: 01/09/2026 Salary: £26,113 to £26,981 Working Pattern: 37 Hours Per Week, Term Time Plus Five Days

Do you have significant expertise in child protection and a dedication to ensuring the health and welfare of young people? As a Safeguarding Officer, you will be pivotal in coordinating safeguarding referrals, managing CPOMS documentation, and initiating multi-agency interventions to protect vulnerable students and their families. This role requires both strategic oversight and hands-on support for school-led safeguarding measures.

Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Managing safeguarding policies: Overseeing responses to safeguarding concerns, ensuring proper action is taken following disclosures and maintaining accurate records.
  • Multi-agency coordination: Leading initiatives for Team Around the Child meetings and facilitating external referrals to agencies such as Social Care and health services.
  • Direct engagement: Working directly with children, families, and stakeholders to prevent harm and promote well-being.
  • Reporting & administration: Translating safeguarding data into statistical reports, and managing in-year admissions processes.

Qualifications

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Significant safeguarding experience: Including expertise in child protection & families, preferably within educational or public/voluntary sector roles.
  • Essential qualification or commitment:
    • NVQ Level 3 (Social Care / Child Protection / Safeguarding), or comparable experience toчай.
    • Proven ability or willingness to pursue recognised safeguarding training.

Critical skills for success: ✔ Strong communication with diverse learners, families, and agencies. ✔ Experience managing under pressure and prioritising competing priorities. ✔ Strict confidentiality adherence integral to all duties. ✔ Prior experience collaborating with social care, healthcare, and other external bodies.

A statutory satisfactory DBS check is a requirement.
