Safeguarding Officer

London, SW1P (with some travel to parishes as required)

We are now looking for a Safeguarding Officer to join us on a permanent, full-time basis, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

The Role

As a Safeguarding Officer, you will support the delivery of National Safeguarding Policies across the Diocese in close collaboration with the Deputy Head of Safeguarding.

Ensuring effective safeguarding practices are maintained across a wide range of settings, you will assist with the management of safeguarding concerns and complaints. You will support survivors with sensitivity and care, ensuring cases are managed appropriately, confidentially and in line with agreed procedures.

You will also work collaboratively with safeguarding personnel, clergy, volunteers and external agencies, helping to strengthen safeguarding practice, deliver training and support the ongoing development of safeguarding across the Diocese.

Additionally, you will:

  • Maintain accurate, confidential and up-to-date case records
  • Present casework to strategic oversight committees
  • Support safeguarding recruitment, induction and training activities
  • Contribute to audits, annual reports and safeguarding reviews
  • Deputise for the Deputy Head of Safeguarding when required

About You

To be considered as a Safeguarding Officer, you will need:

  • Experience working in a safeguarding role involving children and/or adults at risk
  • The ability to manage complex safeguarding concerns and respond sensitively to disclosures
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policy and best practice
  • The ability to challenge appropriately and advocate for those at risk
  • Confidence working collaboratively with internal teams and external agencies
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • The ability to work calmly and effectively in a confidential and pressured environment
