Ryanair Engineering are currently recruiting for a Safety Engineer to join the Base / Heavy Maintenance teams, working exclusively on Ryanair Group aircraft.
About the Role
To support the strengthening of Safety Management System (SMS) principles and local ownership of safety, we are seeking a licensed B1 or B2 Engineer to act as the focal point for occurrence investigations at base level within Heavy Maintenance.
This pivotal role sits within the maintenance organisation, reporting to the Base Maintenance Manager, ensuring that Engineering Safety Reports (ESRs) and occurrences are thoroughly investigated by competent, operationally experienced personnel. This work is carried out in close collaboration with the Safety Department, ensuring consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
To fulfil their duties, the Safety Engineer will have direct access to all levels of management and production processes.

Note: Candidates may be employed locally at any of our Heavy Maintenance sites following selection.

Occurrence investigation & analysis
- Thorough investigation of maintenance errors
- Reviewing aircraft incidents linked to technical events
- Assessing events and occurrences with potential impact on Ryanair’s and Heavy Maintenance’s safety operations

Safety occurrences management
- Administration of occurrences in the Safety reporting system
- Preparation of detailed reports and documents
- Coordination of safety report responses among production staff

Hazard management & risk mitigation
- Identification of hazards, support for risk assessments, and tracking implementation of risk-mitigation actions

Stakeholder collaboration
- Assistance with internal and external safety communications
- Contributing to the development of safety-related materials such as:
- Presentations
- Newsletters
- Briefings
- Visual content

Cross-functional alignment & continuous improvement
- Close working with:
- Compliance Monitoring
- Technical Standards
- Maintenance Management
- Maintenance Personnel
- Other RT compliance departments

Essential Requirements

- EASA B1 or B2 licence
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Clear and confident communication skills (technical and public-facing)
- Ability to work independently while ahead of others in a collaborative environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication capabilities (written and verbal)
- Airport Security Clearance (holding or able to obtain)
- Valid passport with unrestricted travel rights within the UK/EU
- Valid driver’s licence
Desirable Traits & Training Provided
- Knowledge of:
- Aviation society standards and investigation
- Methods for safety and occurrence investigations
- EASA/UK CAA regulations
- Familiarity with Safety Management System (SMS) principles
- Experience with root cause analysis or related investigations
- Awareness of continuous improvement techniques
- Mobility readiness for travel within Heavy Maintenance (HM) sites and Ryanair (RYR) network
