Description
We're building the UK's next generation engineering powerhouse, providing critical technology that strengthens national security and resilience.
We specialise in turning advances in sensing, AI, and communications into operational capability for the edge, where connectivity may be degraded or denied. Our work focuses on accelerating the deployment of technology, improving decision-making for frontline teams, and protecting people and critical assets in demanding environments.
Headquartered in Bristol, Rowden employs around 160 people and operates over 20,000 square feet of engineering and manufacturing facilities. We have a growing international footprint and are one of Europe's fastest-growing engineering businesses.
About the role
Rowden is growing its safety engineering capability, and we're looking for Safety Engineers at all levels to play a key role across the full project life cycle.
From requirements engineering and system architecture through to integration, verification and validation, you'll contribute to the delivery of safety on complex, mission-critical systems. Whether you're early in your career or an experienced engineer, you'll be supported to grow your skills and take on increasing responsibility. More senior hires will shape safety strategy, influence projects at programme level, and mentor others as Rowden continues to scale.
This role requires a minimum of 3 days per week on-site at our Bristol HQ.

For transparency and to help candidates make informed decisions, these are the salary ranges for the different levels we are hiring across systems engineering (DOE):

- Mid Level - GBP 42,000 - GBP 60,000

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
