About the Role

The Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Lead – Transport is a senior leadership role responsible for driving AECOM’s SHE strategy across transport projects (roads, rail, aviation, ports and public transport). The role provides expert leadership to ensure the highest standards of safety, health, and environmental performance across design, construction, and operational phases, supporting AECOM’s mission of delivering a safe, sustainable, and resilient transport network.

This role works closely with Transport leadership, project directors, design managers and construction partners to embed SHE excellence, regulatory compliance, and a proactive safety culture across the portfolio.

  • Champion a strong safety culture, influencing leaders and teams to prioritise safety, health, and environmental outcomes.

Project & Operational Delivery

  • Provide SHE leadership across transport projects throughout planning, design, construction, and handover phases.
  • Support bid and proposal teams with SHE inputs, methodologies, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure effective identification, assessment, and control of SHE risks across complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
