Job Description
SHE Specialist with an Occupational Hygiene Focus
Organon is hiring a SHE Specialist with an Occupational Hygiene focus to join our world-class manufacturing site in Cramlington, Northumberland.
In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in conjunction with Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Occupational Health, and HR to identify, assess, and evaluate solutions to control workplace health hazards and manage associated risks to health. This covers chemical, physical, and biological agents and forms a pivotal role in helping the organization understand health hazards and how they affect the health of workers.
The role is responsible for supporting the site’s Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) programs, with a significant focus on Occupational Hygiene. This position provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace health risks, while also contributing to wider SHE initiatives, compliance activities, and continuous improvement programs. The role supports the implementation of Company Standards and UK legislation, ensuring effective management of occupational health risk through exposure assessment, risk evaluation, and the application of suitable control measures.
This role will also support business projects on the design concepts for engineering controls and support commissioning activities and verification of effective controls where required.
Role Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site SHE programs, with a focus on occupational health risk management.
- Conduct workplace assessments to identify and evaluate employee exposure to chemical, physical, and ergonomic hazards.
- Undertake measurements for chemical agents, noise, vibration, thermal environment, and non-ionizing radiation and interpret results with respect to established criteria.
- Plan and organize surveys, develop sampling strategies in accordance with established guidance and protocols.
- Identify reasonably practicable control measures for non-complex situations.
- Use qualitative and quantitative assessment methods for assessing exposures.
- Ensure reports are documented and communicated to key stakeholders.
- Evaluate risk and any need for action to prevent or reduce exposures.
- Provide technical guidance on the identification, assessment, and control of workplace health and safety risks to ensure compliance with company standards and legislative requirements.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in control strategies and work with key stakeholders to enhance the end user’s knowledge and understanding of risk.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- BOHS Certificate of Competence in Occupational Hygiene or equivalent.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (Desirable).
- Demonstrable relevant professional experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to identify potential Health & Safety risks.
- Thorough understanding of local and regional legislation regarding workplace Health & Safety.
