Safety Specialist

Safety Specialist at Amazon

Keeping our people safe and well at work is a top priority at Amazon. Our Safety Specialists play an integral part in making this happen. In this role, you’ll put the vital steps in place to ensure everyone at your location works in a safe and healthy environment. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a difference to people every day. By proactively keeping them safe, you’ll also empower them to feel confident in their roles and motivated to do their best work.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor site performance against set KPIs and create plans to improve processes.
  • Set up workplace health and safety programmes and arrange training sessions.
  • Analyse safety metrics and incident trends to help colleagues plan appropriate resources for areas with the highest risk.
  • Carry out audits to ensure your site is compliant with relevant health and safety laws, and implement solutions where risks are identified.

A Day in the Life

You’ll be based on-site at one of our fulfilment centres, sortation centres, or delivery stations. Being on-site means you can:

  • Keep a close eye on processes and health and safety compliance.
  • Spot potential issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with people across the business to understand risks.
  • Gather data to drive smarter and safer working practices.
  • Set up training and programmes to help everyone follow new safety processes and reach new standards.

About The Team

Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) plays a crucial role in keeping our team mentally and physically well. The team:

  • Works with managers, associates, and local governments across our sites.
  • Ensures compliance with Amazon’s policies and legal regulations.
  • Has a range of opportunities, from Health and Safety Technicians to Programme Managers.
  • Supports high safety and wellbeing standards through projects like equipment inspections, process assessments, and building/equipment design.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification (in line with the European Qualifications Framework - EFQ) in the Occupational Safety field.
  • Relevant experience managing a team.
  • Relevant experience complying with local Health and Safety legislation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in emergency response.
  • Familiarity with Lean, 5S, or Kaizen methodologies.
  • Experience in planning or managing environmentally conscious initiatives.
