Safety Team Member

Student Safety Team Member – Unite Students/Hello Student

Location: London North

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 42.5 hours per week, 5 nights per week (22:00–07:00). Rotational weekends included.

Salary: £35,850 + bonus + competitive benefits

About the Role

At Unite Group, we create Homes for Success through our student accommodation brands, Unite Students and Hello Student. This opportunity is with one of our two brands, where you can make a difference, night after night.

As a Student Safety Team Member, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our students and buildings are safe, comfortable, and welcoming throughout the night. You’ll be the reassuring, supportive presence students can rely on—helping them feel cared for as if they’re at home.

Behind every shift, you’ll contribute to a supportive, inclusive, and vibrant community throughout the night. No two nights are the same; your duties will range from safety patrols and incident response to checking emails and assisting students in need, all while working closely with your team and the Student Safety Team Leader.

This role demands calm under pressure, empathy, and a genuine desire to connect with people. You’ll ensure students thrive in their home away from home—24/7.

Your Responsibilities

Here’s what your nights might look like:

  • Be the first point of contact for students needing support, reassurance, or guidance.
  • Actively monitor safety and respond to incidents with clarity, such as fire alarms, noise complaints, or maintenance issues.
  • Foster a friendly, welcoming, and respectful environment where students feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborate with day and night shift teams for seamless service and smooth shift handovers.
  • Maintain neat, safe, and comfortable communal spaces.
  • Address wellbeing or welfare matters, including observing signs of distress and intervening appropriately.
  • Live our CARE values: Connect, Act, Respect, and Encourage when engaging with students and colleagues.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
