Safety Technician

Location: Aberdeen, with travel to client sites as required

Employment Type: Full-time

AMS Global Group is looking to recruit an experienced and dependable Safety Technician to join our team in Aberdeen.

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, testing, preparing, and managing a broad range of safety and technical equipment used across the marine, industrial, and oil and gas sectors. The role will be primarily based at our Aberdeen facility, with attendance at client sites, vessels, offshore locations, and other operational facilities when required.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting, servicing, testing, and maintaining safety equipment
  • Diagnosing faults and completing minor repairs where competent and authorised
  • Preparing equipment for rental, sale, service, and client mobilisation
  • Managing client-owned equipment and company rental assets
  • Ensuring equipment is correctly identified, recorded, labelled, and certified
  • Completing inspection reports, service records, certificates, and job documentation
  • Monitoring equipment status and supporting stock and asset control
  • Receiving, checking, and dispatching equipment
  • Providing technical support to customers and colleagues
  • Carrying out general administrative duties associated with service activities
  • Maintaining high standards of workshop cleanliness and housekeeping
  • Following company quality, health, safety, and environmental procedures
  • Attending client sites and completing field-based work when required

The role may involve working with:

  • Portable and fixed gas detection equipment
  • Breathing apparatus
  • Fall arrest and working-at-height equipment
  • Radiation detection and monitoring equipment
  • Breathing air compressors
  • Nitrogen generators
  • Firefighting equipment
  • Lifejackets, immersion suits, and other lifesaving apparatus

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate should ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a technical, service, maintenance, inspection, or workshop role
  • Experience working with safety, marine, industrial, mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation equipment
  • The ability to follow manufacturer instructions, service procedures, and technical documentation
  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good administrative and computer skills
  • The ability to complete accurate service and inspection records
  • A strong commitment to quality and safe working practices
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A professional approach when working at client premises
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to travel and work at client sites when required

Manufacturer training or previous experience with gas detection, breathing apparatus, fall protection, radiation monitoring, compressors, firefighting equipment, or lifesaving apparatus would be advantageous.

Relevant mechanical, electrical, engineering, marine, or technical qualifications would also be beneficial.
