Safety Technician

Safety Technician – Workplace Safety

Keeping our people safe and well at work is a top priority at Amazon. Our Safety Technicians play an essential role in making this happen. This role offers an opportunity to start your career in workplace safety and develop within a global company. You’ll work closely with our experts to monitor your site, allowing you to see the difference you make to people’s well-being every day.

This role requires flexibility to cover Night Shifts.


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Carry out risk assessments and audits
  • Monitor the site to ensure processes align with Amazon’s safety procedures
  • Create and update safety metrics reports for colleague review
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Operations and across the business on safety-related tasks, offering guidance on processes
  • Support in implementing new safety measures

A Day in the Life

  • You’ll be based at one of Amazon’s sites, allowing you to track daily activities and be directly accessible to colleagues during shifts.
  • This role focuses on spotting potential issues before they arise, requiring close observation of site operations and equipment usage.
  • Deep understanding of tasks and machinery will help you design safe processes.
  • You’ll contribute to safety change implementation, working closely with teams across operations.
  • Regular reporting and data analysis will support broader business decision-making to maintain high safety standards.

About the Team

The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) team ensures that both mental and physical wellbeing are prioritised. The team works across sites, managers, associates, and local governments to:

  • Maintain compliance with Amazon’s policies and legal regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold high safety and wellbeing standards.

The team offers diverse roles, from Health and Safety Technicians to Programme Managers, allowing contributions to projects such as:

  • Equipment and process inspections
  • Assessing processes, building, and equipment design

Basic Qualifications Required

  • A Health and Safety NVQ Level 3 or NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of advanced English at CEFR level B2/C1
  • Experience running metrics reports, analysing data to identify issues, and presenting findings

  • Demonstrated clear communication skills when engaging with diverse stakeholders (written and verbal)
