Job Introduction

At Groundforce Training Services our National Safety Trainers play a critical role in the delivery of safety training solutions for our customers, these include, but not limited to, the installation, inspection & removal of ground support systems, management level training on the planning of excavations in the utilities and civils sectors, cable avoidance & locating, safe digging practices to avoid live utilities, work at height including harness use and inspection, manual handling techniques, safe use of abrasive wheels and excavation rescue training qualifications from recognised awarding bodies. Reporting directly to the compliance & training manager, this role plays a pivotal part in maintaining the high standards of safety, quality, and compliance across multiple sectors.

We currently have an opportunity for a construction/utilities orientated Safety Trainer to operate nationally on behalf of Groundforce Training Services. This can sometimes mean working away from home up to 4 days a week.

Please note, we are looking for someone based in South Wales or anywhere West of London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality theoretical and practical training and assessments to a diverse client base across multiple sectors, ensuring learners are trained, confident, and compliant with current legislation and industry standards.
  • Specialise in delivering accredited safety training in the installation, inspection & removal of ground support systems, cable avoidance & locating, safe digging practices to avoid live utilities, work at height including harness use and inspection, manual handling techniques, safe use of abrasive wheels and excavation rescue training to multiple sectors including the civils & utilities sectors, leveraging experience to provide relevant and effective instruction.
  • Conduct training at various satellite locations across the UK, as well as on-site at client premises, ensuring flexibility and consistency in course delivery.
  • Assess and monitor delegate performance against course objectives, providing clear feedback and guidance to ensure safety and competence.
  • Support the compliance & training manager in the planning, development, and continuous improvement of training programs and materials, including the creation of new course offerings aligned with client needs and portfolio growth.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all administrative tasks, including documentation, learner records, and reporting—critical for compliance and quality assurance.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry developments, awarding body requirements, and relevant policies—such as health & safety, statutory regulations, employment, and equality law—to ensure continued excellence and regulatory compliance in all training activities.

When considered necessary or appropriate by management you may be required to carry out any duties considered within your skill and competence to assist the smooth running of the business.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in the specialist subjects we deliver and/or safety training delivery
  • Possession of a recognised training or instructional qualification (e.g. PTLLS, Level 3 Award in Education and Training, equivalent or higher)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently deliver engaging presentations and structured training sessions
  • Flexibility to travel as required, including overnight stays, to facilitate training delivery at various client sites and locations across the UK.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the construction, utilities, and civil engineering sectors

Although Not a Must Have

  • Recognised Safety Qualifications – such as IOSH/NEBOSH
  • Assessing Qualification – such as CAVA / TAQA
  • Understanding of awarding body syllabus – examples such as EUSR.
