Warehouse Colleague Roles – Reach Truck Driver
Salary & Payments
- Base pay: £13.64 per hour
- Pay premium (18:00–06:00): £1.94 extra per hour
- Additional pay: £4.17 for hours worked beyond 160 in a 4-week pay period
- Bank Holiday Hours: Extra pay for shifts during bank holidays
- Counterbalance/Reach Truck Premium: £83.40 per 4-week period
- Freezer Store (MHE) Premium: £83.40 per 4-week period if operating mechanised handling equipment (MHE) in freezing environments
About the Role
Wincanton’s Dedicated Grocery team is recruiting full-time Reach Truck Drivers to support Sainsbury’s store deliveries in a multi-temperature warehouse environment.
Operating in a safety-first culture, team members work across various shifts, including:
- Permanent nights
- Rotating shifts: 06:00–14:00, 14:00–22:00
- Permanent 07:00–15:00 in the freezer store
- Permanent 14:00–22:00
Essential: Reach Truck experience is required. A expired licence is acceptable as long as prior experience exists (warehouse experience desirable).

Key Responsibilities
- Operate Reach Trucks in a safety-first environment with strict Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Work in a fast-paced, temperature-controlled setting (ranging from hot to frozen conditions)
- Support a high-volume logistics operation supporting Sainsbury’s delivery services
- Meet performance targets within tight deadlines
- Follow communication protocols (verbal and written instructions)
- Follow workplace safety and operational procedures

Person Specification: Key Requirements
- Record of warehouse experience preferred (particularly within multi-temperature warehouses)
- Willingness to work across multiple environments (extra PPE provided)
- Friendly & helpful attitude
- Motivated, committed, and results-driven
- Ability to adapt to a shift schedule (e.g., 2 weekends per 3 shifts)
- Meet service standards while working in a varied daily workload
- Actively engaged in continuous learning – “Naturally curious”
